March 25 from 6pm-midnight is our monthly devMEET and Studio Open House night at D. M. Gremlin Studios in Long Beach CA!

For three years running, the monthly D. M. Gremlin Studios event has offered facilities tours, social time, networking, and open photo shooting in a relaxed, professional studio environment. The event is always free and and open to all deviants, artists in all media and styles, and any guests/family/friends with RSVP.

In addition, to our customary festivities this month, `Battledress and *RestemaIII will be presenting a production photo shoot on the studio's back lot, featuring models Emobi (~emobi23) and MissQuinn (~PuddinsDoll) bodypainted as 'Super Heroine' characters.

As always, it is free to attend the devMEET event. For photographers who wish to participate in the bodypaint production shoot, there will be a $20 fee, payable at the door. Funds collected will be given in payment to the shoot's featured models.

We are a photography and recording studio, so some of our activities revolve around those arts. However all deviants in all styles of art are welcomed!

Water and/or soft drinks are provided by the studio; please bring any other snacks or drinks (alcoholic or otherwise) that you wish to have for the evening, or there is a CVS and a burger joint across the street for food/drink runs.

Artistic Figure Lighting Workshop
December 11, 2011 ~~ 10am-7pm
D. M. Gremlin Studios, Long Beach, CA
Limited to 6 photographers; TWO spots left!

We're closing out another year of fantastic photography events with this all-day instructional workshop!

Instructor: D. M. Gremlin Studios owner, published fine art nude photographer `wynnesome.
Models: Hourglass (~HourglassDeviant) (left, center) and St. Merrique (*StMerrique) (right)

Each spot is confirmed by advance payment of the workshop registration fee of $175 ($180 by credit card)
Registration includes lunch and promotional model releases
** 6 hours of instructional lighting presentation and shooting
** 2 hours of additional shooting with St. Merrique to cap off the day

Workshop Itinerary:
10:00am-1:00pm - Instructor presentation and participant shooting with Hourglass: Lighting isolation; figure nudes; bodyscapes; ultra-high key studies
1:00-1:30pm - lunch (pizza and soft drinks provided)
1:30-4:30pm - Instructor presentation and participant shooting with St. Merrique: Shaping dramatic highlights and shadows; low-key figure nudes; bodyscapes and abstract comppsition
4:30-5:00pm - break
5:00-7:00pm - Additional participant shooting time with St. Merrique (no further instructor presentation)

Class filled to 2/3 of capacity in the pre-registration period alone, and we're now inviting just two more photographers to join us and take part in this workshop day of artistic lighting techniques and shooting!

We currently include Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties as Southern California. Are these too far North?

Submission Guidelines

Being that this is a group for Southern California deviants, all submissions and suggestions for the gallery must pertain to Southern California. How can a group administrator determine if it belongs in a gallery?

1. It is a recognizable Southern California landmark.
2. The location is mentioned in the title, description or deviation itself.
3. Deviation was created at a devMeet.
4. If there is a possibility for a deviation being eligible, but none of the above has been satisfied, an administrator will inquire to the whereabouts of said deviation.

Please do not submit your own work unless it has to do with Southern California. While we would like to support Southern California artists of all mediums, it is far too hard to categorize.

We have yet to determine the role favorites will play, so please refrain from suggesting favorites until we decide.

I tried to submit a picture to the Los Angeles folder but was unable to. The only folder available was the feature one. There were no crosses for the others.
