Hi everyone!  Hope everyone is having a great start to the new year!

Please remember that art submissions to this group need to be strongly related to Southern California.  Our primary group gallery themes are art/photos strongly depicting SoCal events, and images of SoCal landmarks and locations.

There should be a more specific relation to the SoCal region than just "this photo is a picture of a person/animal/flower (etc), taken in Southern California or at an event that happened in Southern California."

If it's not a part of the deviation title, or REALLY obvious in the piece itself, then please include a note in the deviation description about the location or event, to make it easy for the voting admins to know how your submission relates to SoCal!

Meanwhile, this group has two affiliate groups with slightly wider themes.

SoCalPhoto is for PHOTOGRAPHERS in the SoCal region. Gallery submissions are photography only, but all subject matter is welcome. The only issue with the group is that the founder is absentee, and he is the only one with certain admin powers such as accepting journals.  So there is limited activity able to happen with that group.

DMGremlinStudios is based around the studio's physical location in Long Beach, CA, but the dA group is open to artists from all locations, and all art genres/themes/subjects.

Thank you and happy grouping!

Submission Guidelines

Being that this is a group for Southern California deviants, all submissions and suggestions for the gallery must pertain to Southern California. How can a group administrator determine if it belongs in a gallery?

1. It is a recognizable Southern California landmark.
2. The location is mentioned in the title, description or deviation itself.
3. Deviation was created at a devMeet.
4. If there is a possibility for a deviation being eligible, but none of the above has been satisfied, an administrator will inquire to the whereabouts of said deviation.

Please do not submit your own work unless it has to do with Southern California. While we would like to support Southern California artists of all mediums, it is far too hard to categorize.

We have yet to determine the role favorites will play, so please refrain from suggesting favorites until we decide.

Thank you! c:

If you are upset about the recently imposed submission limitation for groups, please "Like" this post: https://deviantart.zendesk.com/entries/101865628-Give-Founders-and-...

We need about 200 votes to bring this important issue to the first page. Because issues are unfortunately not sorted by date but only by "Likes", if you do not adjust manually.

Don't know ho relevant this is to the group, but we took a ton of pictures at Comic Con in San Diego and they are all available in this gallery: [link]

It's relevant... I am slammed right now and don't have time to do a journal for the group about it, so hopefully one of the other admins will have time to check out the photos and make a group blog to share your link.

Thank you!
